Project Overview
I built a COVID-19 information and resource site for a nonprofit organization serving Native communities. The site was designed to present health updates, safety information, and resources in a clear, accessible format. It was built entirely with Gutenberg blocks, using WordPress’s native tools for speed, flexibility, and easy updates by the client team.
The Challenge
The organization needed a reliable platform to quickly publish and update COVID-related information as conditions changed. It had to be easy for non-technical staff to edit while maintaining a clean, consistent layout for visitors.
Because the site served as an educational resource rather than a searchable database, the focus was on clear content organization rather than advanced filtering or custom search.
The Solution
Using Gutenberg, I created a structured page layout system with sections for health guidelines, vaccination updates, community safety, and links to external resources.
The block-based approach made it simple to rearrange and add new content as guidance evolved. I configured reusable blocks and templates for consistent formatting, ensuring that updates could be made quickly by staff without developer help.
The result was an informative, easy-to-navigate site that kept the community updated and connected during a critical time.
Key Features
Built a public health resource site using WordPress and Gutenberg
Organized content with section-based layouts for easy navigation
Used reusable blocks and templates for consistent formatting
Enabled non-technical staff to update information quickly
Delivered a lightweight, fast-loading site optimized for accessibility and clarity
Results
The site served as a central hub for COVID-19 information throughout the pandemic, providing timely updates and local resources in a user-friendly format.
Its block-based structure allowed the nonprofit’s staff to keep information current without technical support, ensuring the community always had access to reliable, up-to-date content.
Takeaway
This project demonstrates how Gutenberg can be used for structured, content-heavy sites without the need for additional plugins or builders.
By focusing on clarity, organization, and accessibility, the result was a stable, easy-to-manage resource site that effectively supported a community’s public health needs.
